Breaking Barriers: Join Novacoast and The Apex Program at the 2024 Blind Health Expo: December 6, 2024

As a lifelong advocate for disability inclusion and workforce innovation, I am thrilled to announce my participation in this year’s Blind Health Expo alongside my colleagues at Novacoast and The Apex Program. This incredible virtual event, held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time, is the world’s largest gathering dedicated to healthcare, accessibility, and disability inclusion. It is free to attend, and I encourage everyone in our community to join us for what promises to be an inspiring day of connection and opportunity.

What Makes the Blind Health Expo Special?

The Blind Health Expo is not just an event; it’s a movement. It brings together thousands of individuals, organizations, and companies committed to breaking down barriers and fostering inclusion in all aspects of life. It provides an unparalleled platform to explore healthcare solutions, share innovative ideas, and build bridges across the blindness and low-vision community.

For me, this expo represents a powerful opportunity to connect directly with individuals and organizations who share my passion for creating a more inclusive world. It is also an excellent chance to showcase the groundbreaking work being done by Novacoast and The Apex Program to prepare blind individuals for thriving careers in the cybersecurity industry.

Novacoast and The Apex Program: Driving Inclusion in Cybersecurity

At the heart of our presence at this year’s expo is The Apex Program, an initiative that is changing the game for blind professionals. Operated as a division of Novacoast, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, The Apex Program is a trailblazer in accessible and inclusive training. By providing comprehensive, hands-on cybersecurity education, we aim to equip blind, low-vision, and disabled individuals with the skills and certifications needed to succeed in one of today’s most dynamic industries.

With a curriculum that spans foundational concepts like CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications, The Apex Program prepares participants for real-world challenges through in-depth lectures, interactive labs, and cutting-edge training on Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) software. This program is not just about education — it’s about empowerment. Graduates leave ready to enter high-demand roles and make meaningful contributions in the cybersecurity field.

Meet Us at the Expo

Joining me at the expo will be David Mayne, dedicated Program Manager for The Apex Program, alongside my representation as Managing Director of Innovative Impact, LLC, a consultancy dedicated to driving impactful workforce inclusion. Together, we’ll be hosting discussions, answering questions, and sharing how Novacoast and The Apex Program are launching blind individuals into impactful cybersecurity careers. Whether you are an aspiring cybersecurity professional, an organization interested in promoting disability inclusion, or a curious community member, we would love to connect with you.

Our Virtual Booth Will Feature:

  • Detailed information about The Apex Program and its training modules.
  • Insights into how Novacoast integrates accessibility into cybersecurity.
  • A chance to explore real-world success stories of blind professionals breaking into the tech industry.
  • Live Q&A sessions with David and me to answer your burning questions about accessibility and cybersecurity careers.

Why Cybersecurity?

Cybersecurity is one of the fastest-growing industries globally, with a constant demand for skilled professionals. Yet, people with disabilities remain underrepresented in this vital field. By bridging this gap, we not only open doors for talented individuals but also enrich the industry with diverse perspectives and innovative solutions.

Programs like Apex prove that when we invest in accessibility and training, we create a ripple effect of inclusion and opportunity. For example, our partnerships with organizations like Novacoast, Vibrant Works, and state vocational rehabilitation agencies across the U.S. have enabled us to offer training and job placement to blind individuals in regions ranging from California to New York. Together, we are reshaping what’s possible.

A Call to Action

As we approach this year’s Blind Health Expo, I invite you to imagine what could happen if we united around the mission of inclusion. This event is more than an expo — it’s a testament to the power of collaboration and shared purpose.

Whether you are an individual exploring career options, an employer seeking to diversify your workforce, or an advocate for disability inclusion, the Blind Health Expo has something for you. Let’s come together to share ideas, learn from one another, and take tangible steps toward a future where barriers are broken, opportunities are abundant, and talent knows no limits.
